Our field trip to Trap Pond is Wednesday, May 3rd. Please remember to send a packed lunch with your child. Also, students should wear sneakers. We are in need of class snacks and sandwich size baggies. If you are able to send in snacks, the children will be very grateful!
The students continue to work on different sounds and spellings each day. We use these new spellings to practice blending and reading. The blending strategy is an excellent way for readers to figure out an unknown word. This week we will review all of the long vowel sounds we have learned thus far. Please be sure to read the decodable books sent home each night. The more you practice, the better you get!
In math we are continuing to work on discovering addition and subtraction strategies to use to help us solve story problems. We are also working on finding combinations of 2 addends for a number up to 15. We will be working toward representing numbers by using equivalent expressions.
We have been learning about homes and needs and wants. We have also been learning about scarcity.
We began our unit on Plants. We have planted seeds and will be observing them. We will also be creating our terrariums. We have been learning about organisms. An organism is a living thing.
